  • Developing a Love of Theater

An Appreciation of Drama Starts Early
From preschool to graduation, Maumee Valley students are immersed in the joys and disciplines of the stage. Teachers are committed to providing all students with opportunities and time to function as artists by exploring developing and refining their creativity and self-expression.

Our youngest students learn about drama in their art and music classes. Formal instruction begins in 3rd grade, where students play creative drama games to develop their observational skills, reduce performance anxiety, encourage their creative imagination, and introduce them to dramatic conventions.

In the Upper School theatre, students have the opportunity to advance their knowledge of theatre through an extensive list of courses and travel. A trip to New York allows them to experience the magic of Broadway as students attend several productions and participate in workshops with theatre professionals. A trip to England has the students enjoying Shakespearean Theatre along with sightseeing.

Nov. 16-19: "Twelfth Night (or What You Will)"
One of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, this tale of love, loss and disguise is brought to life in a 1980s "MTV" reimagining. Shakespearean language, 1980s “RomCom” trappings, and an early MTV soundtrack infuse this spirited production.
